What is free?
The public methodology, Standard guide and resources on this website are free to read. MOT automation via DVSA and Fleetgenius carbon features are free when used with GreenTurtles: annual vehicle estimates, visible mileage sources and methods, factor provenance, monthly snapshots, self-assessed tiers and shareable assessment records. See the offer details.
Does Start free create an account?
No. It sends an enquiry to the GreenTurtles team. Our team can confirm the offer scope and explain how to proceed. This website does not create Fleetgenius accounts.
Do I have to use Fleetgenius?
The free entry offer is linked to Fleetgenius, the data and intelligence engine. You can read the public GreenTurtles guides without an account. Ask us about the requirements for your fleet.
Is the GreenTurtle Standard independently certified?
No. The GreenTurtle Standard is a self-assessment framework, not an audit or third-party certification. Every tier is self-assessed.
Are electric vehicles counted as zero-carbon?
No. Battery electric vehicles are zero-tailpipe, but grid electricity is counted using the method’s BEV per-kilometre factor. Read the EV explainer.
What happens if mileage is missing?
The method uses contracted annual mileage first, then an odometer-derived annual estimate, then an explicit default of 8,000 miles per year. The default is labelled and included in the defaults-in-use count.
Can I show a year-on-year reduction immediately?
Only if a snapshot around 12 months old exists to support the calculation. Until then the correct status is “Baseline is building”.
What do the tiers measure?
The tiers use the share of the fleet that is pure battery electric: Bronze below 20%, Silver from 20%, Gold from 40% and Platinum from 60%. They are self-assessed and do not establish carbon neutrality.
What does a verification code prove?
It identifies the public assessment record and its status. It does not turn the assessment into independent assurance. The mark must travel with its code or public link.
Are route optimisation, AI and driver rewards included?
These appear in the wider product ideas, but the supplied sources do not confirm them as available free features. We will confirm current capabilities and any commercial terms.
